I'm currently a 1st year student in the Arts Administration Program. My academic background is primarily in art history, specifically medieval and Byzantine art. A lot of my work in undergrad and grad school has focused on religious art, particularly Christian art but with some work in Islamic and Hindu objects and architecture. I'm particularly interested in the uses of images and objects in religious practices and the way that images reveal and shape changes in practice and theology. I hope to work in a museum, historic site or arts-related nonprofit following my studies at TC.
I'm interested in this class because art historical training focuses on a sometimes narrow aspect of visual studies, even though there is an emerging trend to expand beyond that. I'm hoping to be able to expand beyond that scope to better be able to incorporate aspects of visual theory into museum practices or other artistic presentations as an arts administrator.
